The Argument Abstract may be the most important document to craft on the way to writing a good formal argument essay. It is a four-part document. Follow the document format carefully. It is not an outline for the paper–it is much more! It DOES have an argument ladder requirement for your topic (Part 4). It also requires that you write a Thesis Statement that will guide your position on your topic. Needless to say, it need not even be written into the Argument Essay, but it’s good to have to help you keep yourself on track. The thesis is tricky; it has important parts to it.
My argumentative topic is “Production and sales of tobacco must be made illegal”.
I will up load two other documents to get a better understanding of what exactly he is wanting done.
HERE IS A SAMPLE LADDER: THE ARGUER IS IN FAVOR OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT; THE ADVERSARY WANTS IT ABOLISHED:
— The state has a right to punish criminals
— Punishment can be neither cruel nor unusual
— Executing a murderer is not unusual because it follows the biblical idea of an eye for and eye (punishment that fits the crime is neither cruel nor unusual)
— Executing a murderer is not cruel because the community deserves that justice be achieved (an act is not cruel if it brings justice to a community)
— Capital punishment should not be abolished
