As we move forward into our second essay, you will still need to have a clear and strong thesis to drive your project. However, now we are going to add strong and useful secondary sources. For this reason, your SWA #2 will be to create a document that contains 1.) your thesis and 2.) an annotated bibliography of your TWO secondary sources.
Your paper must use MLA format, which includes citing and documenting all sources. You must use 12 pt Times New Roman font and your work must be double-spaced, as always.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Your document should be formatted very specifically.
PAY ATTENTION TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS: FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY.
• Begin with a possible title for your project, centered on the page.
• Next, follow with your proposed thesis (this can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paragraph, it does not have to be perfect, it is a working-thesis). I would also like you to propose an audience for your argument. Who are you addressing, in forming your argument?
• Format it as a standard MLA annotated bibliography of only your two secondary sources (not your primary source). This is alphabetized, like a works cited list. However, after each citation, you should have a paragraph or two detailing the following:
1. The credentials of the author and the publisher or sponsor, and the accuracy of the source.
2. A short summary of the source’s argument and major points.
3. A brief discussion of why it will be useful to your project (what will this source add to your purpose, how relevant is your source, and what level of specialization and audience is necessary to understand the article [and how will you translate between that audience to your own]?
